The 2019 South African Rok Karting Championship will reach its halfway mark on Saturday (22 June 2019) as Praga drivers head to the Western Cape for what promises to be an action packed race day.
Kid Rok:
Luke Hill will be hoping to lead the way in Kid Rok and further increase his 18 point lead in the championship. With five out of six race wins, Luke is in top form and looks unstoppable.
Goran Gruben finds himself in a three driver tie for third place. With only two points between him and second place, anything is possible and an intense battle is likely to ensue.
Grayson van Zummeren will gain some value experience at Killarney this weekend as he hunts down a top six finish.
Following his regional race in the class a few weeks ago, Troy van der Laan will be putting himself to the test in the more robust National series on Saturday.
Jack Moore will be making his Praga debut and will round out the team’s Kid Rok entries.
Mini Rok:
KC Ensor-Smith has a little bit of catching up to do as he attempts to improve his current championship ranking. KC is fourth in the points, with a 12 point deficit to third. He has one race win to his name this season.
Luke Hill currently leads the under ten division and is 12th in the overall standings. There are only ten points separating 7th and 12th, which means a good set of results could easily elevate Luke into the top ten.
Taya van der Laan will be making her National Mini Rok debut and has shown good pace at Killarney in other events this year. She is expected to be very strong in this class.
OKJ:
Jarrod Waberski seems to have put his bad luck behind him and is enjoying some good form. The racing is going to be tough, but Jarrod is up for the challenge and ready to improve his eighth place ranking.
Taya van der Laan will also be racing in OKJ this weekend. She has competed in the regional series, but this event will mark her National debut.
