Praga South Africa enjoyed success at the final round of the Northern Regions Rok Cup held at the Vaal Kart Circuit in Vereeniging on Saturday 9 November. The 13 strong team ended with 12 race podiums and two overall wins for the day.
Kid Rok:
Luke Hill didn’t have a great start to the day, breaking an engine during qualifying and having to start from 5th on the grid. A quick engine change later, Luke was back on form and finished the first race in 2nd. He won the second heat and took a nose cone penalty and another 2nd place finish in the final race. Luke ended the day 1st overall and won the championship.
Troy van der Laan had a fantastic outing, qualifying in 3rd place and taking a podium finish in heat one. He finished 4th in both remaining heats to claim 4th overall for the day.
Goran Gruben put in a solid performance, although qualifying didn’t quite go according to plan. He started from 7th on the grid and had an impressive drive to finish 5th. Goran took 5th in heat two and 8th in the final race to end the day 5th overall.
Angelo Brachini had a good day. After starting from 8th on the grid, he took a 7th place finish in the first race. He ended 10th in heat two, but had an outstanding final drive to cross the line 5th. Angelo ranked 6th overall for the day.

It was a day Reagile Mailula would rather forget. After showing good pace in qualifying, he dropped from 4th to 8th in race one. He managed to get onto the podium in race two, but an exclusion in the final heat saw he drop to 11th in the overall results.
Mini Rok:
KC Ensor-Smith ended his Mini Rok season on a high note. Starting from the front row of the grid, KC romped home to victory in race one. After a hard fought charge, he ended race two in 2nd place. A victory in the final heat and first overall for the day was a fitting end to what was an impressive year for the young driver.
Luke Hill look confident in Mini Rok, qualifying 10th and finishing the first race in 11th. A nose cone penalty dropped him to 12th in race two, but his 9th place finish in the final heat was enough to earn Luke the under 10 championship, making it four titles for the year.
Ashton Repsold had a consistent day, qualifying 15th and holding this position to the flag in the first two heats. He crossed the line 16th in the final heat and was placed 16th in the overall results.
Dean Berner continued to find his feet in the class. He qualified 16th and finished the first race in 18th place. He took 17th in both remaining heats, to end the day 18th.
