Podiums aplenty for Praga

Praga power shone through at the fourth round of the Northern Regions Rok Cup this weekend (20 July 2019), with Praga taking overall podiums in four categories at Zwartkops.

Kid Rok:

There is a misconception that older drivers produce better racing. If anyone believes this, they haven’t watched a Kid Rok race. The action was fantastic and Praga were front and centre.

Reagile Mailula stole the show. He qualified 3rd and put in a good first race performance to finish 2nd. Things just got better from here and Reagile earned his 1st and 2nd Northern Regions Kid Rok wins. He also took the top spot overall for the day.

Goran Gruben had a good day and produced some very consistent results. In fact, he qualified 4th and after some action packed driving, finished 4th in all three heats. He claimed a podium in the overall standings.

Luke Hill struggled with some technical gremlin’s, but did an outstanding job finding a way to be competitive despite not having his usual pace. He qualified 5th and held this position to the flag in race one. Luke finished 6th in race two and after some work by the technical crew, drove to a brilliant 3rd place finish in the final heat. He ended the day 4th overall.

Keagan Beaumont had plenty of pace, qualifying 2nd. He finished the first race on the podium, but his progress was sorely hampered with a 9th place finish in race two. He worked hard to get back up to 5th in the final heat and in the overall results.

Angelo Brachino had his best race of the season. The young Praga driver qualified 7th and after a small spin, crossed the finish line 10th. He had a fantastic second race, claiming his first podium finish of the season. Angelo finished 7th in race three and 6th overall.

Troy van der Laan made good progress in the class, qualifying on the 4th row of the grid and finishing the first race in the top 10. He finished 8th in the second race, but saved his best result for the final heat, where he finished 6th. Troy ended the day 9th overall.

It was a difficult day for Tyler Repsold. After qualifying 11th, Tyler failed to finish the first heat. He went on to finish 11th and 10th in the next two heats respectively, giving him 11th in the overall positions.

Mini Rok:

KC Ensor-Smith led the Praga charge in Mini Rok. He started from the 2nd row of the grid and made a hard charge for the lead. He kept the competition at bay and took the race one win. KC finished 4th in race two and took another podium in the final heat, to end the day 2nd overall.

Luke Hill had a solid day in Mini Rok, qualifying 12th and finishing the first heat in 13th place. He took 15th in race two, before taking a very hard earned 8th in the final. Luke finished 13th overall and 2nd in the under 10 division.

Ashton Repsold qualified 13th, but was unable to finish the first heat. He got up to 14th in heat two, before claiming 16th in the final and overall standings.

Dean Berner had a relatively quiet day. He qualified 18th and finished 17th and 18th in the first two races. A DNS in the final heat placed Dean 18th overall.

OKJ:

OKJ produced some nail biting action.

Jarrod Waberski started from 4th on the grid and earned a podium finish in race one. He took 2nd in an action pack race two and 3rd in the final heat, after leading the race going into the final lap. Jarrod finished on the podium in the overall standings.

Taya van der Laan was super consistent, qualifying 11th and finishing all three heats in 10th place. 10th overall is no easy feat in this competitive field.

Jayden Els made his Praga debut on Saturday and was immediately in the thick of the action. He qualified 8th and had a brilliant first heat to finish 4th. A touch with Alessio Angelucci dropped him to 13th in race two and the damage resulted in a DNF in the final race. Despite this, he still finished 11th overall.

Alessio Angelucci qualified 10th and drove a good first race to finish 8th. He was unable to finish race two, after making contact with Jayden Els. Alessio finished 9th in the final heat and 13th for the day.

Ayden Hall qualified 13th and was classified 12th in the first race after receiving a nose cone penalty. He finished just outside the top ten in race two, but failed to start the final heat. Ayden finished 14th overall.

125GP:

Sebastian Lanzetti debuted his Praga “super kart” this weekend and enjoyed three action packed races at the front end of the field. He finished 7th in heat one, 6th in heat two and 8th in the final race. Sebastian finished 3rd overall in the super kart division.

Jaco Nel and David Hollis both had their fair share of issues. Jaco finished 19th in race one before retiring for the day. David took 23rd and 22nd before he also retired from the event.
