PODIUMS FOR PRAGA

Praga - Reagile Mailula

The third round of the 2019 Northern Regions Rok Cup took place at the Vaal Kart Circuit in Vereeniging this weekend (25 May 2019) and Praga walked away with four podium finishes.

Kid Rok:

Praga drivers accounted for seven of the ten Kid Rok entries this weekend.

It was a race day of ups and downs for Luke Hill, who qualified on pole position and won the first race. Unfortunately, he and some other drivers tangled in race two, leaving Luke to recover to 4th place. A huge turn one crash in the final heat put Luke out of the race. Despite this, Luke still claimed 3rd overall for the day.

Reagile Mailula had a sterling weekend. After qualifying in 5th, he made up ground and finished 3rd in the first race. He went on to take 2nd in both remaining heats and took silver for the day. A win in the class is imminent.

Goran Gruben had his hands full in three very competitive races. He qualified 3rd and finished 4th in heat one. Goran took 5th in heat two, before earning a podium finish in the final race. He ended 4th in the overall standings.

Angelo Barchini achieved some solid results. After a difficult qualifying session, Angelo worked his way up to 7th in the first race. He took another 7th place finish in race two, before flying his way into 5th in the final heat. 6th overall for the day will be a real confidence booster.

Troy van der Laan enjoyed his first outing in Kid Rok, qualifying 8th and claiming 6th place in the first two races. His progress was hampered by the race three accident, but Troy soldiered on to finish 8th and secure 7th overall.

Tyler Repsold is progressing well in the class. He qualified 10th and finished 9th in heat one. Tyler gained another position in heat two, to cross the line 8th. He finished 6th in the final race and 8th in the overall results.

Keagan Beaumont qualified 6th and took a hard fought 5th place finish in race one. He finished 7th in race two, but was later removed from the results following a technical infringement. He ended the final race in 7th place, which gave him the 10th spot for the day.

Mini Rok:

KC Ensor-Smith didn’t have the best qualifying session and had to start from the second row of the grid. He didn’t let this stop him though as he dashed into the race one lead. Unfortunately, he was pushed wide on the penultimate lap and dropped down to 4th. KC finished in a strong 2nd place in both remaining heats and took the silver for the day.

It was another bag of mixed results for Luke Hill, who qualified in 10th place. Although he was able to hold this position to the line, some close racing resulted in a nose cone penalty which dropped him five places. Luke finished 8th in the second race, but achieved his best Mini Rok result to date with a 5th place finish in the final heat. He ended the day 10th overall and 2nd in the under 10 division.

Ashton Repsold looked good on track and made steady progress. He qualified 14th and worked his way up to 11th in the first race. He took 10th in both remaining heats and finished 12th in the overall results.

OKJ:

Jarrod Waberski’s luck changed this weekend. He qualified in 3rd and was up to second place in race one, before running wide and dropping down to 4th. A nose cone penalty dropped him to 5th. Jarrod took 4th in heat two, before a determined drive gave him the race three win. He ended the day 2nd overall.

Alessio Angelucci put in a strong performance, qualifying 7th and finishing 6th in the first two races. He had a steady final heat in 7th and ended 7th overall for the day. A good result in a tough field.

Things didn’t go quite as planned for Ayden Hall. After qualifying 11th, Ayden held this position to the race one flag. He finished 9th in race two, but retired from the final heat with a technical gremlin. Ayden finished 10th overall for the day.

It was a baptism of fire for Taya van der Laan. She qualified 10th and finished 10th in the first race. Unfortunately, the rest of the day wasn’t as smooth. Taya made a good start to race two, but spun off on the first lap and dropped down the results to 10th. She was involved in a turn one accident in the final heat and despite her best efforts to get her kart back on track, the spin resulted in retirement. Taya ended in the day in tied 10th place.

125 GP:

It has been tough going for Jaco Nel and David Hollis who are both still coming to grips with their “monster” Pragas. They continue to make progress in the class and some top ten results are now well within reach.
